Let's Not Kid Ourselves

Iran is no threat to America.

It's not apparent to our elected representatives in the Senate, however. Many of whom were elected with the sole purpose of ending the Iraq war, not starting a new one. Yet the Republicans and Democrats voted in a 97 to nothing vote to censure Iran for their alleged part in arms sales to sectarian groups in Iraq.

We're also positioning a new floating war fortress off Iran's coast and conducting secretive CIA missions of "non-lethal covert operations against Iran using propaganda, disinformation and the squeezing of Iran's international banking transactions."

Also we're holding Iranian diplomats hostage, apparently. Why?

I've said it before, but it seems more obvious now and it's worth repeating; We're already at war with Iran, they just haven't faught back yet.

Meanwhile Iran's economy is on the verge of collapse. President Ahmadinejads printing money like it's going out of fashion to pay for their dreaded nuclear program, and the inflation is beginning to take it's toll on prices. Early this month the government enacted rationing on it's gasoline after price controls caused shortages. (price fixing always cause shortages, btw) The result was mass protests by the Iranians.

Iran is no threat. They hardly have an army, no real navy or air force. They'll run out of money long before they'll be able to produce any WMD's. Yet we seem on a collision course for war with them with the Republican and "anti-war" Democrats leading the way.

Maybe they're hoping that three times is a charm or something?

Maybe they think that they can beat Iran without it dragging on... and on... and on for years?

Or maybe they're just a tiny bit delusional?

This is really scary and serious stuff. War with Iran will not be a good thing for the U.S. The potential to start a broader war that includes Russia, China, India and Pakistan is very real. Even if it's not a shooting war, sanctions from China or Russia could devastate the U.S. economy.

We need to let our leaders know that another war is not an acceptable option and that any attempt to insight one should be considered an act of treason.

Hey,
I moved my site to:

I think our elected representatives aren't really paying attention to us, or the world. They have their own agendas, and most of them are corporate.

Scary. I think our leaders never figured out how to play that game Risk.

I kick ass at Risk! Here's my strategy (don't tell my husband): I conquer the smallest continent in which I have the most armies, then I build up my armies on that continent and sweep through the world. It takes patience, but it words every time.

Note that the foreign fighters in Iraq come mainly from Saudi Arabia and Egypt — not Iran. Another inconvenient fact the Bush Administration would rather sweep under the carpet.

There's reports out now that Iranians are pushing for democracy and are finally getting fed up with the current government. I say let them sort it out. Iran, like China, is having so much internal turmoil right now that it can't pose an external threat for quite some time. If anything, we should be diplomatically helping those who are pushing for democracy, not beating the war drum.

The country seems way ahead of the congress on this and many other problems.

As if U.S. armed forces aren't spread thin enough right now. I realize the administration is on a tight schedule as far as conquering and restructuring the entire Middle East is concerned, but didn't anyone ever teach these guys to finish one project before you start another one?
